Frequently Asked Questions
How long is a therapy session?
Therapy sessions are 50 minutes in duration. Assessment sessions are usually longer at 80 minutes. Fees are £120 per hour for therapy and £200 for an initial assessment.
How long will I be in therapy for?
Following an initial assessment with your therapist, a treatment plan will be discussed with you that includes an estimated length of treatment time. Regular reviews every couple of months will be held to review your progress and discuss your ongoing needs.
Where are therapy sessions held?
Therapy sessions can be held in person or online. Face to face sessions are available in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire and in St. Albans, Hertfordshire.
Do you offer evening appointments?
I have some limited availability for evening appointments which can be discussed with you.
What if I am unwell, will I still have to pay for the therapy session?
Therapy sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice are still liable for the full fee. Cancellations given with more than 48 hours before the session can be reimbursed in full. Cancellations less than 48 hours notice but more than 24 hours will be reimbursed by half the fee. If the therapist is unwell on the day of your appointment, you will be reimbursed or offered an alternative appointment.
Can my insurance company pay for the session?
I am registered with a number of insurance companies. You will need to seek approval from your insurance company prior to booking to guarantee that your insurance policy covers the full cost of treatment. If there are any shortfalls in the level of cover you have with your insurance company, you are personally liable for the full fee as stated in the terms and conditions of service.
Will you provide me with a psychological report?
Reports can be provided should you request one but will be charged at my hourly rate for time taken to prepare a report.
My teenager needs help, will I be involved in their therapy?
Getting the right help for your son/daughter and encouraging them to attend an appointment with a healthcare professional is an important first step towards recovery. I will work with your son/daughter initially on their own to understand their issues and to build a trusting relationship. I will work with the young person to try to encourage them to share their concerns with you but this can take time before they may be willing to discuss their concerns with other family members. Please note that any concerns about risk will be shared with you as parents and their GP and the limits to confidentiality will be explained to the young person in their first session.
